Cadore, Piller resigns. Ben’s return is possible

Former Cadore coach Renzo Piller

Last night the coach communicated his decision to president Del Favero. “Too few in training, making it difficult to work”

The conditions were lacking to continue together. Especially numerical. So Renzo Piller announced to the club last night his intention to resign as coach of Cadore and the club chaired by Attilio Del Favero took note.

So the red and white team, penultimate in Group I of the First Category with three points – three even and seven defeats – must now look for a new coach, who among other things will immediately be engaged on Sunday in the delicate salvation challenge against Refrontolo.

The chosen name seems to be that of Enrico Ben, a long-time technical guide of Cadore and who had left in 2019, at the end of the season ended with the salvation in the playout on the San Gaetano field.

He then covered two championships as sporting director, both interrupted due to Covid, while in the summer the decision to live a football sabbatical year.

Which, however, seems destined to end soon, if it accepts the proposal.

TOO FEW

«Already in the summer I had some doubts about whether or not to continue my experience here», comments Renzo Piller, a few minutes after communicating the choice to the club and the team. «I was convinced above all by the insistence of the players. However, the necessary conditions were now lacking. The main reason for my resignation does not concern the ranking or the results, because in the end we played it in most of the games. It is precisely the way of working that was no longer going well ».

The former Sappada coach in the Carnian championship which takes place in the summer continues his examination.

«If I had chosen Cadore in the summer of 2020 it was to be able to play with certain ambitions, accompanied by a winning mentality. And in fact in the 2020-2021 portion of the championship we always found ourselves with important numbers in training, so much so that on Sunday I was forced to send many good players to the stands. The ideal would have been to continue like this, but for one reason or another everything has changed. At the moment I was doing two training sessions a week with a dozen boys at the most, then on Friday the university students return. I had little time left to train tactical situations and in fact many times the defeats came precisely for situations in which we were really prepared. I am a great football fan, but by now I felt of little use to the cause. If you can’t record as you hope, then I think it’s right to step aside ».

SALVATION

Piller however encourages the team, with which there is still a strong bond.

«The squad is full of many young people every Sunday. Some are good, in any case it is not correct to send them all together in a league like the First. It is right to give them the opportunity to grow and give them space when they can be joined by experienced people. I am convinced Cadore will be saved, and I repeat I was not afraid of having to fight for this goal. But I believe the First Category should have a different programming ».
