Eighth season in the rossoblù for Joao Pedro: “We will do great things with Pavoletti”
It is the flag of Cagliari. Eight seasons with the rossoblù shirt are many. Joao Pedro is the symbolic man of a team to which he is linked not only by his contract, but also by his heart. And speaking of the contract, the boss Giulini wants to lock up the 29-year-old forward. He is thinking of a four-year period that the parties seem to have already begun to discuss. «Eight years is a long time – his words since Pejo’s retirement -, mainly because in today’s football it is very difficult for a player to remain in the same club for so long. I am happy, I have found my balance and the right team. The group has changed little, but the mentality after what happened last season will have to be different ».
In the last two championships he has scored 34 goals. Playing closer to the goal allows him to better exploit his potential. «Scoring so many goals makes me proud, it puts me on par with the Brazilians who play in the best teams in Europe. I can’t afford to think individually, but the fact that I have scored so many goals in Cagliari, which plays a championship for different goals, I consider it an extra merit. This year? I just know that I want to score. I understood that there is no limit, if you have the head and the desire, you can do what you want ».

Joao has always been sensitive to the issue of racism. He often used severe words on this occasion as well, replying as follows: «There is still racism in football and it has been seen in the case of the English players who missed their penalties in the European final. Only those who have been there can tell how bad it is. We will continue to fight: racism, on and off the pitch, must necessarily end ».
