Bayer Leverkusen can hardly take the championship away after their 1-0 win at Union Berlin and their pursuer FC Bayern’s 2-3 win in Heidenheim. It could happen as early as the next match day.
After the 28th matchday, the factory club has 16 points more than Munich and VfB Stuttgart. With six match days still remaining, 18 points are still up for grabs per team.

Champion on the next match day?
If things go very well for Leverkusen, then they could win their first Bundesliga title as early as matchday 29. In order for this to work, neither Bayern nor Stuttgart are allowed to score more points than Leverkusen on the next matchday.
If Bayern Munich wins against 1. FC Cologne or VfB Stuttgart against Eintracht Frankfurt, Bayer also has to win at home against Werder Bremen. If Bayern draw or Stuttgart draw, a draw is enough for Leverkusen. If both Bayern and Stuttgart lose, Leverkusen are champions regardless of their own result.
Bayern and Stuttgart play on Saturday, Leverkusen on Sunday
Spicy: Bayern and VfB play on Saturday, Leverkusen only on Sunday. Should 1. FC Cologne score three points in Munich and Stuttgart lose to Frankfurt, then their Rhenish rivals and the Hesse team would have made Bayer champions early.
However, if Leverkusen does not win against Bremen and Bayern or Stuttgart score more points than the league leaders, the Werkself would have the next chance of an early title on matchday 30 at Borussia Dortmund.
The scenarios at a glance
Leverkusen will be champions on matchday 29 if…
… Leverkusen wins at home against Werder Bremen
… Leverkusen gets a point against Bremen and Bayern don’t win against Cologne and Stuttgart against Frankfurt
… Bayern lose to Cologne and Stuttgart lose to Frankfurt
