Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has not placed any blame on his players following their elimination from the Copa del Rey at Atlético de Madrid’s home. Ancelotti acknowledged that his team “fought until the end” and praised their effort, despite their extra-time loss.
During a press conference, Ancelotti expressed that “more could not be done for many things,” and admitted that his team suffered the greatest wear and tear in extra time due to “a sin of youth.”
When asked about the referee’s performance, Ancelotti refrained from making complaints and instead praised Atlético de Madrid without reproaching his players.
The coach also highlighted the physical disadvantage his team faced, having played one more game in the Spanish Super Cup and enduring a long trip back from Riyadh, leaving them with less time to prepare for the match.
Ancelotti also identified defensive fragility as one of the main causes of Real Madrid’s Cup elimination, admitting that they have conceded many goals in recent games. Despite this, he remains optimistic about the team’s ability to improve and strengthen their physical condition.
