Rome, December 26, 2021 – From January 1, 2022 close on cash payments: the limit will come down to One thousand Euro from the current two thousand. During the examination of the maneuver, in fact, no proposals were made, put forward in particular by Fdi, to raise the roof again.

The new limits for cash payments are those envisaged by tax decree of the summer of 2020 during the Conte-bis government which set a decalage with a threshold of two thousand euros starting from July a year and a half ago and the promise to go down again, to one thousand euros precisely, from the beginning of 2022. With the new year, therefore, we will return to the level set in far 2011 from the Save Italy decree and then changed starting from 2016.

The measure aims to strengthen the fight against tax evasion and the strategia cashless: a road to which the crackdown approved during the parliamentary examination of the decreto legge Recovery and which provides that shopkeepers and professionals are required to accept debit or cards credit as forms of payment, of any amount be it. Those who refuse will incur a fine: it will start from 30 euros, a sum to which a percentage will be added based on the value of the product or service purchased.

There are no more margins for further changes before the arrival of the new year: the Budget law has yet to be examined by the Chamber, but the text arrives in armored Montecitorio. The passage in committee is announced formal, as well as that in the Chamber since Italy is one step away from the provisional exercise. And therefore we need the green light immediately.
