State Councilor Chen Yiqin Emphasizes Importance of Youth Football Development

Xinhua News Agency, Ganzhou – State Councilor Chen Yiqin recently visited Hubei and Jiangxi to investigate youth football work, emphasizing the need to lay a solid foundation for football development over a long period of time. During her visit from March 30 to April 2, Chen Yiqin toured Wuhan, Nanchang, Ganzhou, and other places to assess the development of football in primary and secondary school campuses and youth training bases.

Chen Yiqin stressed the importance of implementing General Secretary Xi Jinping’s instructions and the overall plan for the reform and development of Chinese football. She urged for a focus on youth football, launching a pilot project for a football youth training system in the western region, and expanding the football population to better cultivate and select talents.

In addition, Chen Yiqin highlighted the need to strengthen the party’s leadership over football work, improve the football management system, guard against formalism and bureaucracy, and create a clean and upright football ecosystem. She also visited the national kayaking team’s Olympic preparations, encouraging athletes to train hard and bring glory to the country.
