Chinese Men’s and Women’s 4×100 Meter Relay Teams Share Olympic Preparation Plans
China News Service, Beijing, May 10 (Reporter Hao Lingyu) – Members of the Chinese men’s and women’s 4×100 meter relay teams were interviewed in Beijing on May 9 to discuss their current preparations for the Olympics. The men’s 4x100m relay team will be training abroad after a short break, while the women’s team will be competing at the Asian Relay Games in Thailand and aiming to secure a spot in the Paris Olympics.
At the 2024 World Athletics Relay in Nassau, Bahamas, the Chinese men’s team achieved success by running a season-best of 38.25 seconds in the preliminaries. On the other hand, the Chinese women’s team narrowly missed out on qualification. This outcome has resulted in different paths for the two teams moving forward.
The men’s team, including athletes such as Wu Zhiqiang and Xie Zhenye, will focus on maintaining their competitive edge and preparing for the Paris Olympics. Wu Zhiqiang expressed his optimism about leading the team to success in Paris, emphasizing the importance of teamwork and communication among the young athletes. Meanwhile, the women’s team, led by sprinter Ge Manqi, will continue to compete in upcoming events to secure their spot in the Olympics.
Deng Zhijian, a rising star on the men’s team, sees the Paris Olympics as an opportunity to prove himself and aims to help the team achieve a top-three finish. Yuan Qiqi, a member of the women’s team, highlighted the importance of improving their baton handovers and mental resilience during competitions.
Both teams are determined to give their best in the upcoming events, including the Asian Relays in Thailand and the China-Japan-Korea Track and Field Competition in Chongqing.
