CASTELNUOVO WRITES

The Autosped Castelnuovo Scrivia 2022-23 is taking shape. The ambitious Piedmontese company announced, in fact, the confirmation of the guard Ashley Ravelli and the purchase of the wing Carlotta Gianolla, already in Lucca in A1. Ravelli, 29, who arrived in Castelnuovo in February, played 17 games between the league, the Italian Cup and the promotion playoffs, averaging 7.2 points.

Now the first hit of the market has arrived: Gianolla, 25, returning from a brilliant season in A1 with the Gesam Lucca tank top, has deserved to be called up to the senior national team with which he has just concluded the meeting in Chianciano Terme in preparation for the tournaments in Melilla (Spain) and Cividale del Friuli, as well as the two home qualifying matches for the 2023 European Championships against Switzerland and Slovakia. Daughter of art (her father is Andrea “Rambo” Gianolla, who won a Korac Cup with Cantù), the new castelnovese grew up in the Reyer Venezia nursery with which she made her debut in A1 at just 17 in the 2014 season / 2015; the excellent championship (A2) played the following year in the Magika Castel San Pietro Terme (she was an opponent of Broni in the historic final which sanctioned the promotion to Serie A1 of the Oltrepadane) earned her the interest of the overseas colleges and so Carlotta is landed at Kennesaw State University with which she participated, for four seasons, in the Ncaa championship where she obtained several awards, including that of Rookie of the year. With the US experience closed in advance due to Covid, Carlotta returned to Italy where she obtained a degree in Psychology. In 2020/2021 she was also one of the leaders of the Women’s Nico Basket (A2) where she put together very respectable figures: 18 points and 9 rebounds per game, however, ending the season prematurely due to an injury. Her performance attracted the attention of Lucca. There are therefore three girls available to the new coach Nino Molino: the confirmed Giulia Rulli and Ashley Ravelli, now joined by Gianolla. The collaboration with Bertram Tortona is an added value, which guarantees solidity to the project. –
