Cop26, text approved (Ansa)

Glasgow, 13 Nov. – The approximately 200 countries gathered at the Cop26 have adopted the “Glasgow Pact“to speed up the fight against climate change and lay the groundwork for its future financing, but the text was watered down with a compromise in the passage about ending coal, because India managed to get change at the last minute. Despite the perplexities and tears of the COP26 president himself, Alok Sharma, the proposal passed to the benefit of the overall package. The final approval of the text, after two weeks of tough negotiations, was sealed with a hammer blow by the British president of the negotiations.
