La Máquina Announces Ciudad de los Deportes Stadium as Home Venue for Closing 2024 Tournament

Cruz Azul has officially announced that the Ciudad de los Deportes stadium will be the new home venue for their home games during the upcoming Closing 2024 tournament.

The announcement comes as a result of the remodeling of the Azteca stadium for the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted by Mexico, the United States, and Canada. As a result, Cruz Azul and América will temporarily relocate to the Ciudad de los Deportes stadium while the Azteca stadium undergoes renovations.

The news was confirmed ahead of the start of the Closing 2024 tournament, with Cruz Azul’s match against Pachuca scheduled to take place at the Ciudad de los Deportes stadium on Saturday, January 13 at 7:00 p.m.

Through a video presentation, Cruz Azul introduced their coach, Martín Anselmi, and showcased their new reinforcements for the upcoming tournament. The club also urged fans to join them at the Ciudad de los Deportes stadium for their home games, formerly known as the “blue stadium” where La Máquina played for several years.

“We are ready. We only need you. Join us on the road to La Décima,” said the sports director of Cruz Azul, Iván Alonso, in a video message. “We can’t wait to be here with you,” added Alonso from the field of the Ciudad de los Deportes stadium, currently the home of Atlante in the Expansion League.

In addition to the venue announcement, Cruz Azul also revealed that the pre-sale for the Blue Pass, which grants access to the team’s home games during the Closing 2024 tournament, will begin on January 9 and run until January 21. The general sale of the Blue Pass will be open from January 10 to 23, with prices ranging from 2,350 pesos for the cheapest option to 5,950 pesos for the most expensive.
