22nd edition of the Giovanni Cannarella memorial, a cycling event of national interest, which will take place over two days: on Saturday 11th a time trial is scheduled for rookies, students, juniors and under 23s. The meeting in Piazza San Giovanni, at 1.30 pm, in Monterosso Almo. At 3pm the departure from the Sp 11 at the intersection with the State Road 194. Arrival on the Sp 11 after 6.6 kilometers near the Buccheri-Giarratana junction. On Sunday 12 May, however, the road race will be held starting, and this is a novelty, from the city of Comiso for the three categories involved, Students, Juniores and U23. There will be a total of 105.5 kilometers to cover and after the first passage under the finish line in Monterosso Almo, the runners will have to complete the historic circuit, inside the Iblean village, another six times. The meeting point is set for 11.30 in Comiso in Piazza Fonte Diana. The start is at 2pm while the end of the event is scheduled for around 6pm. Numerous companies from Emilia, Tuscany, Campania, Puglia and Lazio have already signed up. A high-level memorial is expected, as always, which saw illustrious winners such as Nibali, Caruso and Malori. Among other things, the shirt will be assigned for the Junior regional championship. So, the attention will be very high indeed. “Our team, the Nial Nizzoli Almo Cycling Team, therefore the Sicilian-Emilian club which is giving us great satisfaction, which expects to be able to obtain results of a certain type, even if the competition, as always, will be very fierce, as regards this competition which for us represents a sort of milestone in our activity on multiple fronts. The memorial dedicated to Giovanni Cannarella is for us an irreplaceable commitment aimed at honoring the memory of our relative who gave so much to cycling and who deserves to be remembered for his great organizational and sporting skills”.
