TREVISO. The Giro d’Italia returns to the Marca, with an arrival in its capital. The Borgo Valsugana-Treviso (146 km – altitude difference 570 meters) will be a stage for sprinters, the last compact group sprint of the Giro 2022.

First slightly undulating part with the historic Primolano Stairs to access the Piave valley and then cross the Prosecco production area between Valdobbiadene and Refrontolo.

Last roughness the short Muro di Ca ‘del Poggio to reach the Treviso plain and face the final circuit before the final sprint.

The stage will involve the municipalities of Valdobbiadene, Farra di Soligo, Pieve di Soligo, Refrontolo, San Pietro di Feletto, Conegliano, Susegana, Spresiano, Villorba and Treviso, with the final circuit in Fontane as a tribute to Pinarello.

Mayor Mario Conte commented: “The Giro d’Italia is not only one of the most important and iconic cycling events in the world but it is also a sports festival that is celebrated for the people and among the people. We are proud to return to being the capital of cycling in a territory, ours, which has always been closely linked to two wheels, hosting challenges that have definitively become legendary. Among other things, in 2022 Treviso will be the European City of Sport and the arrival of a stage of the Giro will be the best way to celebrate this recognition. We can’t wait to return to celebrate the Pink Caravan with all the warmth that only the Treviso people can show on these occasions. The Giro is the race of the Italians and Treviso is happy to be part of this event which, more than any other, unites us all to the poetry of sport. “

«It is a Giro full of excellent opportunities for sprinters – commented the Italian sprinter and pistard, Elia Viviani – Perhaps the arrival of the first stage is more favorable for a finisseur or a sprinter who holds good uphill. I would like to be able to fight to win the Ciclamino jersey again and try to win some stages like the one in Treviso, close to my fans, or the one in Reggio Emilia. There is certainly ground to repeat a Giro like the one in 2018: it would be a dream ».
