Dolomiti Fontel made no mistake and became champion of Italy

The team triumphs in Cortina by beating Mole 2020 and then Trentino Cembra. Constantini happy: “A hard-fought challenge, gold has always been our goal”

CORTINA. Dolomiti Fontel again champion of Italy. The team of the top female curling series triumphs on the ice friend of Cortina, at the end of the two days dedicated to the Scudetto finals. The team from Ampezzo which also includes the Olympic champion Stefania Constantini triumphs at the Olimpico, beating first the Mole 2020 in the semifinal and then the Trentino Cembra in the final.

The girls of the Dolomiti Fontel weren’t necessarily the favorites. A team with also three athletes of the national team available, namely Veronica Zappone, Angela Romei and Elena Dami. The 8-3 from Belluno imposed themselves, but the real surprise then came in the recovery semifinal to which Mole could appeal to go to the final anyway. The defeat against Cembra has in fact opened the doors to the thirty towards the last act. So Dolomiti – Trentino Cembra was the last act of the championship and the result of 4-2 rewarded the Fontel coached by Alessandro Zisa. The Mole still closes third, given the success in the final with Virtus Piemonte Ghiaccio.

“A nice weekend ends in the best possible way”, comments Stefania Constantini, who therefore adds another triumph to this open 2022 with the epic victory in the mixed doubles at the Beijing Games. «We played the semifinal really well, always maintaining control of the ice. What happened a little less in the final, however, where we were trying to compensate, they remain concentrated. The more the match went on, the greater our confidence with the competition field. It was a hard-fought challenge. On the last hand we were over two without the last hand available and therefore our goal was to try to keep the field as free as possible. As a result, we practically only failed, winning the gold that was our goal ».
