Dortmund “double kills” Paris Saint-Germain to advance to the Champions League final

Xinhua News Agency, Paris, May 7 (Reporter Xiao Yazhuo) – In a thrilling second leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-finals, Borussia Dortmund secured their spot in the final by defeating Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 away. With a total score of 2-0 over two legs, Dortmund proved their superiority and booked their place in the coveted final.

The only goal of the game was scored by Hummels in the 50th minute, sealing Dortmund’s victory and marking their first Champions League final appearance in 11 years since the 2012-2013 season.

Despite having the advantage at home, Paris Saint-Germain couldn’t capitalize on their opportunities. With a possession rate of 70% and a 30-7 lead in shots, luck was not on their side as 4 shots hit the goal frame throughout the game.

“We hope to win every time we play at home, and today’s result makes us sad,” Mbappe remarked after the game. “We should have scored, we created opportunities but failed to seize them. If we are not efficient in both attacking and defending, it will be difficult to win.”

In other news, reports suggest that Mbappe will depart Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent at the end of the season, with Real Madrid being his likely next destination.

The second semi-final clash will be between Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, with the first leg ending in a 2-2 draw. The decisive second leg will take place at the Santiago Bernabeu on the 8th, with both teams vying for a spot in the final against Borussia Dortmund.
