Milan, 15 October 2021 – The impressive march in Euroleague dell’Armani AX Milano who, after having folded the Maccabi, drops the poker and beats 75-71 also the reigning European champions ofEphesus Istanbul, which, on the other hand, remain surprisingly dry with victories. Once again Olimpia has built its success starting from a granite defense, which in the second half has overwhelmingly climbed in shots (only 13 points scored by Efes in the third quarter) decisively limiting the spearheads Vasilije Micic (only 2 points scored in the second half after the 15 sent to target in the first) e Shane Larkin. Even in attack, however, Olimpia played a game of great solidity and quality: it is difficult to find a single protagonist in a choral performance of this depth. There are many, in fact, the red and white to deserve an honorable mention: starting with Malcolm Delaney, best scorer with 16 points. But it is impossible not to mention also Gigi Datome (3/5 of three), Tell us Mitoglou, Shavon Shields e Devon Hall who with their stabs have dug the decisive furrow and subsequently repelled the last attacks of the Efes.
The race
The Turkish team started strong on the wings of an unleashed Micic (7-14) and thanks to the Serbian ace they managed to keep Milan at a distance that was still combative but forced to “settle” for -5 at the sound of the first siren (16 -21). The external advantage grew up to +9 at 23-32, but Olimpia had the merit of keeping their concentration high and managed to loosen the offensive reins in the second part of the second quarter, placing a break at 14-0 inspired by Hall, Mitoglou, Shields and Delaney, which earned him the double pass and the +5 (39-34), which became +6 at the long break (42-36). The interval did not extinguish the impetus of Olimpia who, upon returning to the field, further tightened their defensive grip (13 points granted to Efes in the third quarter) and in attack he found further confidence flying at +14 with the torpedoes of Datome and Shiekds (63-49 with 10 ‘from the end). Struck by pride, Efes reacted in the fourth quarter thanks to the contribution of “second lines” such as Dunston and Gecim, mending the gap and returning to -5 (63-58). A flash in the pan, however, because Milan’s nerves are back in a very steady blink of an eye: MItoglu’s bombs and Delaney’s plays have done the rest, guaranteeing Milan a final match without worries and two other heavy points.
