Continental titles are up for grabs in all categories. 225 athletes from 22 nations are expected in Flaine.
MONDAY INDIVIDUAL RACE:
raising the curtain on the continental week will be the individual race, i.e. the queen test, scheduled for Monday morning. Barring last-minute changes due to weather precipitation, seniors and under23s will have to face 1570 md+ spread over four climbs with two sections on foot, while senior women, under23 women and the under20 men will have a route with 1350 md+ as a testing ground. This ring also includes four climbs and two sections on foot. For the younger categories, the under 20 women, the race will have a positive difference in altitude of 1050 m, while the 18 (men and women) will have a route with 970md+. On the starting line we will see the outgoing continental champions Werner Marti (SUI) and Axelle Gachet-Molleret (FRA) who will have to contend with the best interpreters of the specialty. As far as we are concerned in “Casa Italia” this situation will be a real unknown given that in this first part of the season the Azzurri have not yet run an individual in the environment.
MARTEDI’ REST DAY:
after this first burst it’s time to recover your energy in view of a particularly intense three days.
THREE DAYS OF FIRE:
on Wednesday the competition calendar offers the sprint test for all categories, on Thursday everyone is still on track for the vertical. Grand finale in Chamonix on Friday, with the mixed relay that will bring the curtain down on this continental week.
