The Attorney General’s Office is investigating six citizens for their alleged participation in the destruction of electoral material during the October 29 elections in Garzón, Huila.

The Attorney General’s Office has ordered the opening of a disciplinary investigation against six citizens who served as voting jurors in Garzón, Huila, due to alleged irregularities in the destruction of votes during the elections last October 29.

The Provincial of Instruction of Garzón, Huila, identified those involved as Edwin Andrés Mora Mora, Laura Alexandra Cruz Tejada, Arly Parra Caicedo, Brayan René Almario Sánchez, Karen Lorena Cardona Peña and Andrés Camilo Fajardo Sánchez, who were assigned to table number one at the Barrios Unidos Educational Institution. They are accused of having committed a crime by irregularly removing electoral material.

The entity also reported that a witness to the elections, in charge of monitoring the table where the jurors involved were, denounced their behavior. In response, information has been requested from the local registrar about the corresponding materialas well as confirmation of whether the control entity was aware of the alleged illegal act.

The Public Ministry, through this investigation and the request for evidence, seeks to verify the occurrence of the reported events. The objective is to determine whether said actions constitute a disciplinary offense and, ultimately, establish whether or not the jurors acted under a cause of exclusion of liability. “With this investigation and the request for evidence that was made, the Public Ministry seeks to verify the occurrence of the reported events, determine if they constitute a disciplinary offense,” the Attorney General’s Office emphasized.
