Frustrated Bayern coach Tuchel congratulates Leverkusen on their championship

FC Bayern deserved to lose against BVB and write off the championship for good. Coach Thomas Tuchel already congratulates Leverkusen on their title. Joshua Kimmich lets off steam and criticizes the attitude of his teammates.
Harry Kane stood patiently at the center circle and waited with the referee for the video referee’s decision. After a few moments it was clear that the Englishman’s goal had not counted because it was offside. The FC Bayern striker accepted the decision without emotion shortly before the final whistle. It remained 2-0 for BVB, who won again in Munich after ten years. It was a deserved victory for Dortmund, who played more passionately and also created better chances.
After the defeat, Bayern can finally write off the championship. Seven game days before the end of the season, the gap to league leaders Bayer Leverkusen is 13 points. Never before in the history of the Bundesliga has a league leader given up a lead of 13 points. Munich’s performance against Dortmund also leaves little room for imagination as to how Bayern want to pose a threat to the outstanding Leverkusen team.

“I wonder how it can happen that we show such an attitude in a game like this. This is completely inexplicable. Completely frustrating. We had the feeling that it was a friendly game,” said Bayern right-back Joshua Kimmich. For him, it’s a given that you’re there when the referee blows his whistle: “At the end of the day, Leverkusen doesn’t have to interest us if we don’t do our own homework. We players should go home and question ourselves and not worry about the coach. With this attitude it will be difficult against any opponent. Next week against Heidenheim and especially in the Champions League against Arsenal.”

In the second half of the season, Bayern only got 16 out of a possible 30 points, while Leverkusen got 28. “I would like to contradict Joshua Kimmich, but I can’t. We thought we wouldn’t see this point again, but it obviously happened that a game goes like this,” said Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel. They had planned something completely different, but couldn’t get it on the pitch: “It’s obviously extremely difficult for us to approach the games with the right passion and the right grit. Of course the championship is gone, congratulations to Leverkusen.”

BVB coach Edin Terzic celebrated his first win against Bayern. The success in Munich was the fifth Bundesliga win in a row for Borussia. “We are of course happy, it was a deserved victory. We had a lot of great activities. But the basis was that we didn’t concede a goal. We showed our Champions League face today,” said Terzic.
“The last time we won here was ten years ago. We ran seven kilometers more than Bayern, which is a totally deserved victory. It just feels good. This is a BVB party,” said Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl
