Defender Lucas Hernández is moving from Bayern Munich to Paris Saint Germain. Bayern announced this on Sunday. The 27-year-old is signing a five-year contract in Paris and could meet an old acquaintance there.
FC Bayern has sold defender Lucas Hernández to Paris Saint-Germain. The 27-year-old defender will leave Munich after four years. Hernández struggled with injuries time and time again during his time at Bayern Munich. In the current season he only made eleven competitive appearances.
After tearing a muscle bundle, the Frenchman tore his cruciate ligament at the World Cup. According to media reports, the fee for Hernández, whose contract would have expired next summer, is 45 million euros – plus bonus payments. “We would like to thank Lucas Hernandez for four very successful years together,” said Munich CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen: “He always gave everything, his fighting spirit and his passion have always impressed us. FC Bayern wishes him everything for the future Good.”
Four years ago he was the king transfer to the record champions. In the summer of 2019, FC Bayern transferred 80 million euros to Atlético Madrid for Lucas Hernández. The transfer was made official months in advance. At that time, too, he was suffering from a torn medial ligament in his knee.

Nevertheless, Hernández was one of the top performers on the defensive. The 2018 world champion was used by Munich as a left and central defender and was also an important player due to his versatility.
Hernández won four championships during his time at Bayern, once the DFB Cup and the Champions League. The contract talks between the club and the player had actually developed positively during the second half of the season and, according to media reports, are said to have been about to be concluded before Paris Saint-Germain approached the Frenchman.

The departure of Hernández leaves a big gap at Bayern. In addition to a center forward and a defensive midfielder, the Munich team now also have to improve on the left side of defence. Benjamin Pavard is also about to leave Bayern Munich. In this case, coach Thomas Tuchel would only have Matthijs de Ligt and Dayot Upamecano in central defense.
