Bologna, February 14, 2022 – The program of the Sprint Race in Formula 1 it has been completely revisited for the 2022 World Cup. There should have been six, but they will only be threeof which one in Italy: Liberty Media has announced some significant changes in the format Sprint Qualifying, dictated by “feedback from fans, media and teams”. The lightning races of the next championship will be held in Imolain the GP of Emilia-Romagna, al Red Bull Ringfor the Austrian GP, and at the Brazilian GP ad Interlagos.
Sprint Race, the new regulations
The Sprint Race will no longer assign the pole position. Friday’s qualifying, which will establish the grid positions for Saturday’s 100km mini-race, will also decide who will statistically go to the pole of the fastest single lap of the weekend. It also changes the assignment of points: if last year only the top three won points for the championship, now they will be the first eight to cross the finish line and to secure a small booty the day before the actual race. The first place will receive eight points, the eighth one.
