Rome, August 9, 2021 – A priest was killed in Saint-Laurent-sur-Sèvre, in Vendée, in the west of the France. This was communicated by the diocese and the gendarmerie of Mortagne-sur-Sèvre, cited by the local media. The priest’s lifeless body was discovered this morning following a report by a man who “presented himself to the gendarmerie this morning” assuming responsibility for the murder, according to a source close to the affair. The man had already come under the attention of investigators last year, as part of the investigation intofire of July to Nantes Cathedral.

On Twitter the Interior Minister Gérard Darmanin announced that he is going to the place where the priest was “murdered” and that he will provide “all support to Catholics”.
