From the Green Years to Alexandria, Ghiozzi’s dream continues

The 20-year-old offensive winger from Voghera signed a two-year deal with the Piedmontese grays after making his Serie B debut in 2021-22

A whirlwind of emotions overwhelmed Mauro Ghiozzi, a 20-year-old boy from Voghera, who a few days ago signed his first contract as a professional footballer, agreeing for two seasons, with an option on the third, with Alessandria, just relegated to Serie C. Mauro has been wearing the gray jacket for 7 years, after his beginnings in Voghera, with the Green Years and then with OltrepoVoghera. «I felt a very strong emotion in signing the first contract with Alessandria. In this club, I lived a path from the Under 14s to the Primavera. I have to thank mister Rebuffi, who I had for two years in the Primavera and mister Longo, with his staff, who taught me a lot ”

Last season, Ghiozzi spent a year of important apprenticeship in the Alessandria group that faced Serie B: «I learned from the most experienced players, such as Chiarello, Casarini and Marconi, who gave me valuable advice. In terms of pace and quality, the level of Serie B is very different from the Primavera championship ». During the season in Serie B, Ghiozzi also took away the satisfaction of making his debut with Alessandria, in the match played on the field of Ternana: «Without a doubt, it was the greatest thrill. I remember that Mr. Longo told me to get ready to enter, I was so excited that I didn’t really realize what was happening. The other exciting moment was the call-up for the Coppa Italia match on the Sampdoria field, in a special stadium like Marassi ». The baby from Voghera, an offensive winger who is quick and strong in dribbling, tells of his expectations: “The hope is to be able to carve out a space in Alexandria, trying to have a good time in order to demonstrate my qualities”. Mauro’s secret dream looks even higher: “I would like to reach Serie A, let’s say that the most realistic goal is to have a good career in the pros”. But there is not only football in everyday life: «I am enrolled in the Faculty of Biological Sciences in Pavia. Regardless of football, I am of the opinion that it is important to have a good education at the level of studies ». He words as a mature and responsible boy, who will now try to impose himself with the Piedmontese grays. –
