In case of victory, Sedico’s team could celebrate Bottega: “It’s nice that everything depends on us”

A victory to celebrate … or almost. Giorik Sedico can reach the playoff qualification one day early tomorrow. At 4 pm it hosts the third last Giorgione: in case of victory, the Belluno team would have a foot and a half in the scoreboard leading to the A2. But he could even uncork the proverbial bottle in the locker room, if the defeat of the Canottieri against Altamarca and the non-victory of Maccan Prata over Palmanova were added to the favorable result of Palaricolt. In any other case, he would have to wait either for the last day in Verona (Saturday 24th) or for one of the three recoveries that Maccan Prata will play in the meantime, on the first Tuesday with the same Canottieri. In any case, if Giorik wins, it can almost be said to be calm.
Be careful, however, not to underestimate the survival instinct of the Treviso people, forced to watch their backs in order not to retreat directly. “They are also young, and this allows them to give a good pace to the game”, comments Andrea Bottega, in the third year in the blue and white jersey. «We will have to try to make mistakes as little as possible, playing hard and also trying to realize the opportunities in our favor. From this point of view in the last period we have grown: I am thinking for example of the two successes obtained against Pordenone and Altamarca ».
Giorik B’s first year came in fourth, while Covid stopped last season when the playoffs seemed already established. Indeed, the promotion games were not even closed. Repeat for the third championship in a row would be a source of great pride.
“It’s nice that everything depends on us. I think the greatest merit is that we never got down, even though, for example, we had just four points after the first five days. From January onwards we have only lost three steals relating to the first round, so I think it would be deserved to be in the top five. That said, now the head is turned only to Giorgione and then to the trip to Verona in two weeks. And if the qualification arrives tomorrow or in the next few days, so much the better ».
Bottega closes with a personal consideration. “Wearing this shirt fills me with pride. I am tied to the colors, to the people, to the fans who are so lacking for how much charge they could give us. I hope to reach the playoff goal as soon as possible and maybe, next year, be part of the Giorik Sedico group again ». –
