Finally we leave. In the staff of Pavia, Vogherese, Accademia Pavese and Varzi yesterday afternoon they breathed a sigh of relief when the official communication from the Lombard Amateur Committee arrived.
The championship of Excellence has been recognized of national interest by Coni: training can start again (even with contacts) and the championships will begin, in Lombardy, on Sunday 11 April, the week after Easter.
On the first day immediately a provincial derby that of “Chiappano” between Varzi and Pavia. Home debut for the Vogherese with the Alcione of the overseas technician Omar Albertini (ex Accademia Pavese), a team that in recent days has been making grafts and strengthening to fight for the high ranking.
The Accademia Pavese, on the other hand, will make its debut in Vimodrone on the field of Club Milano, another contender for first place (the only one that will mean direct promotion to D) in a group that on paper is the most competitive compared to the other two 11-format minigironi issued by Crl earlier this week.
Only the first round will be played and every Sunday there will be a team that rests.
On the public front (as from Serie A downwards) no spectators will be expected even in Excellence, a closed-door race followed in the stands by authorized managers and professionals). Yesterday, in the meantime, after the letter sent by the president of the Crl Carlo Tavecchio to that of the Lnd Cosimo Sibilia (and for knowledge to that of the FIGC Gabriele Gravina) to underline the delay in the process that was thought to be faster, some informal explanations were received on these reasons.
The NLD would have found itself in front of some Committees that with small numbers of formations adhering to the restart, lower than the ten indicated as a minimum to be able to do so. In Veneto three formations from Friuli Venezia Giulia would have joined, one of the Committees that had had a small number of “yes” at the restart.
Equally critical situation in Abruzzo. Hence the excuse of finding, therefore, different solutions such as groups exceptionally, given the situation, combined between clubs from neighboring regions.
The last championship match will be Sunday 13 June. Short holidays and then, hopefully, a real championship.
