Guillermo Duró resigns as coach of Delfín SC following disappointing draw with Belgrano
Following a lackluster performance and a disappointing 1-1 draw with Belgrano in the Copa Sudamericana, Guillermo Duró has announced his resignation as coach of Delfín SC. The cetacean team failed to take advantage of being a man up for 80 minutes in Argentina, extending their winless streak to 8 games.
In a press conference after the match, Duró explained that his decision to step down was not solely based on the result against Belgrano. “It did not depend on this result, we had it reserved for determination,” he said. “I asked the president to let me lead this party. I am proud of the group I have, of the players who have defended me and showed it on the field.”
The 55-year-old coach leaves Delfín SC second to last in the Pro League with just one victory in their last 11 matches. Internationally, the team sits second in their group in the Copa Sudamericana with 5 points from one win, two draws, and one defeat.
“I am leaving calmly with a 19-month job in a humble club, but really organized and that has treated me really very well,” Duró stated in the conference.
