He fought until the end to try to get the result back on track and this made Ragusa more vulnerable who, at the final whistle, found themselves defeated 3-0 at the Granillo in Reggio Calabria.
Passive thinker, therefore for Ignoffo’s blues who are anyway managed to maintain balance for the first twenty minutes, then the home team’s goal gave rise to another match. In the second half, the Iblei players tried to make up ground but in the 63rd minute the second goal arrived. From this moment on we saw the character of Ignoffo’s team who tried in every way to reduce the gap without succeeding, rather lending one’s side, in injury time, to the opponents’ dangers which materialized with the Calabrians’ third goal.
“The only insertion we suffered in the first half – explains Ignoffo – was the one on the occasion of the goal while we did well to defuse two-three dangerous situations. From that moment on, Reggio Calabria was careful to steer the match in its own direction while we were unable to get it back on its feet although we had tried in some way. When we conceded 2-0, we could have risked collapse. And instead, the boys continued to grind, trying to make themselves insidious. We risked something more and this exposed us to the third goal which, in fact, is a heavy liability compared to the values expressed on the pitch although, as we always do, we accept the verdict of the pitch.”
“I am happy – adds Ignoffo – for the performance provided by the boys in terms of character and temperament. They dealt very well with a reality that we certainly don’t discover and whose quality of the squad we knew couldn’t be questioned. We made some mistakes which with these teams are paid more than normal. We also made some mistakes in the last twenty-thirty meters in the attack phase and this did not allow us to be as incisive as we should have been. We will now continue our journey, as we have always done, with the awareness that there is always work to be done to be able to obtain results of a certain type that will propel us towards those areas of the ranking in which we deserve to be. So, head on to the next one, that is, the Sicilian derby at home against Acireale.”
