In the Olympic year 2024, there will be no cross-country competitions for Mona Mitterwallner and Laura Stigger at the Mountain Bike World Cup in Leogang. Unlike in previous seasons, the regular date in June will only be held for the downhill aces Valentina Höll and Andreas Kolb, who won this year in Salzburg, as well as in the enduro race. This emerges from the published calendar of the World Cycling Federation (UCI).

The Mitterwallners and Stiggers, who achieved their first World Cup victories last season, will have to forego home races at the highest level next year and probably beyond. In the medium term, however, this should change again, as emphasized in Leogang with reference to the annual applications.

There is still great interest in cross-country, but the world association is currently pursuing other plans with its new media partner Warner/Discovery. In response to an APA request, all disciplines would gather again in Salzburg at the latest at the 2028 World Cup.

New locations in 2024

In 2024, the UCI is relying on several new venues in addition to classics such as Nove Mesto, Val di Sole and Les Gets. The first two right at the beginning in April in Brazil (Mairipora, Araxa) in cross-country.

In the Olympic discipline with the additional short tracks there are again eight stations until the final in Canada at the beginning of October. While Leogang was no longer included, Crans Montana (Switzerland) was also added in June and Lake Placid (USA) at the end of September.

With Bielsko-Biala in Poland there is also a new route in the calendar for the downhill group with world champion Höll. The only event with all three divisions is Les Gets, where the last competitions before the Olympic Games in Paris will take place for Mitterwallner and Co. at the beginning of July. The season planning for the cross-country marathons has not yet been completed.
