Actually, Hamburger SV doesn’t particularly like outsiders. Steffen Baumgart’s boys made an exception against SV Wehen Wiesbaden and thrilled their fans with a 3-0 (1-0) win. This meant that Hamburg jumped back to third place in the table in the 2nd Bundesliga.
Most eyes in the packed Volksparkstadion were probably directed towards the HSV dugout at the start of the game in bright sunshine. Steffen Baumgart was there in a T-shirt and batting cap – he looked definitely relaxed. Understandable: After all, HSV had only gotten three points in three games since taking over.

Hamburg’s Jatta unlucky after 60 seconds
A three-pointer was needed against the newly promoted team, which, despite all the adversity, would lead Hamburg back to third place. The hosts started off stormy and almost celebrated for the first time after 60 seconds. The ball fell to Bakery Jatta’s foot at the near post, but the lanky attacker only heaved the ball onto the outside post.
Contractions Wiesbaden gathers
The guests had to collect themselves – they did so convincingly. They should have taken the lead in the 11th minute. Robin Heußer was played in the penalty area, let Sebastian Schonlau run into nothing and only had the HSV goal with keeper Matheo Raab in front of him. The Wehener midfielder put the ball just past the right post.

Muheim takes the lead for HSV
The game then petered out, and it was all the more surprising that the score was 1-0 in the 33rd minute: Laszlo Benes had cleared Miro Muheim 25 meters in front of the goal. He simply took the shot and the ball deflected into the right corner to make it 1-0.
The game was on its way, and the guests subsequently acted far too timidly to embarrass HSV, who were by no means stable. He could have increased the score before the half-time whistle – there were enough chances. In the best, Immanuel Pherai failed at the right post in the 40th minute after Robert Glatzel had presented the ball to him just right.

Benes with an artificial shot to make it 2-0
The individual class of one individual brought HSV a lot of peace soon after the restart. This time the convincing Benes did not act as a preparer, but rather carried out the execution himself. And this was extremely tricky. He shot a direct free kick from 20 meters under the wall into the far goalkeeper’s corner to make it 2-0 (51st). The ball wasn’t hard, but it was shot more well placed.
The Baumgart team no longer had any trouble dominating the impressed guests. Glatzel scored in the 84th after a fine pass from Benes to make it 3-0, but he was clearly offside. Ransford Königsdörffer, who had recently been substituted, was better positioned in the 85th minute when – again Benes was the passer – he slotted in free at the far post to make it 3-0. That was it and HSV could finally celebrate again. About a confident game and the jump to third place.
