The defender was awarded as the best player among all his compatriots in front of Hamsik and Kucka: “I think the club is satisfied with my performance”
“Renewal? I think I’ll stay at Inter.” So Milan Skriniar on the sidelines of the award ceremony as the best Slovak player of the year, a prize he has secured for the third consecutive edition. The defender is due to expire in 2023: “We’ll see if the club managers will offer me a new contract. But I think so: I think they are satisfied with my performance.”
The situation
—
There is no hurry at the Nerazzurri, also because the most urgent situations must be resolved before Skriniar: after the announcement of Brozovic’s renewal, it is still to be understood what will become of Perisic and De Vrij. The parties have not yet reached an agreement on the Croatian (the deadline is in June), while the Dutch – with a contract until 2023 – seems destined to leave in the summer. The position of the Slovakian, on the other hand, does not worry: the intention is to continue together, as the words of the player himself demonstrate. Skriniar earns 3.5 million euros a year, the club’s proposal could be at least 4.5 million until 2026.
We will fight to the last
—
Skriniar then talked about the award received and the moment of the team: “It helped me a lot that we managed to win the Scudetto with Inter. We are close again this year, even if we are a bit late now. I think we’ll win again. Unfortunately we missed several games, Milan and Napoli overtook us. But we still have one game to catch up, we’ll fight until the end. This prize is a reward for the fact that what I do makes sense. “
