Italian triumphs in Oderzo: show by Gallo and Bado

Intense emotions in Piazza Grande, Aurora leads Italy to team victory, the males second behind Sweden

ODERZO

The golden summer of Italian athletics continues: the triumph of Nicolò Gallo and Aurora Bado (with third Silvia Gradizzi) at the Opitergium Trophy – European Road Race Under 20. For the blue, also the victory in the team classification, with the azzurrini silver.

Yesterday in Oderzo, in Piazza Grande, there are still blue emotions, a bit like at the Tokyo Olympics. Gallo and Bado (she is a daughter of art, her mother is the world bronze marathoner Ornella Ferrara) were protagonists with two long sprints, after which they got the better of the French Cartieaux and the Czech Gieselova respectively. Both races (10 km for men, 5 for women) practically decided on the last lap.

A great afternoon with the best young players of eight national teams (Italy, France, Greece, Czech Republic, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Sweden) to discuss, gain experience and dream, maybe in which year, a Five Circles adventure.

To kick off the competition, the Tokyo Olympic gold medalist, the walker Stano, but also applause for the Olympic champions of Gabriella Dorio (1984) and Gabriela Szabo (2000). Among the speakers, also the federal president Stefano Mei, the president of the Veneto Coni, Dino Ponchio, and of the regional committee of FIDAL, Francesco Uguagliati.

Great satisfaction for the organizing company, Nuova Atletica Tre Comuni – a company affiliated with Atl-Etica San Vendemiano – in collaboration with the Treviso Marathon. Now the appointment is on May 1st 2022 with the classic Oderzo Città Archeologica International Race.
