Iván Alonso was disqualified after an altercation with Miguel Herrera

Cruz Azul’s sports director has been suspended for a month and the Xolos technical director has been fined after a fight following their recent match.
Iván Alonso, the sports director of Cruz Azul, will be disqualified for a month due to the altercation he had with Miguel ‘Piojo’ Herrera, at the end of the match between the two teams at the Ciudad de los Deportes Stadium. On the other hand, the Xolos coach will only receive a financial penalty.
The confrontation occurred after the game, in a hallway of the stadium and in front of several media present. Videos reviewed by the Mexican Football Federation showed Alonso rebuking Herrera and accusing him of lacking respect, while Herrera retorted by questioning Alonso’s memory and accusing him of disrespecting both himself and the coach in the past.
As a result of the incident, the Disciplinary Commission determined to financially sanction and disqualify both individuals, citing violations of the Sanctions Regulations of the Mexican Football Federation.
The incident highlights the tensions between the two clubs and serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining sportsmanship and professionalism both on and off the field.
