On July 12th, the 18th Advocate Chess Cup China Professional Go Championship Semi-Final Sanfanqi Game 1 concluded in Shanghai Yingshi Building with surprising results. Ke Jie lost to Wang Xinghao in a chaotic battle, while Jiang Weijie completely defeated Mi Yuting. Yikeweiqi provided a live broadcast of the thrilling matches.

The competition, which began in April, saw several unexpected outcomes in the earlier rounds. Zhiying, the female general, swiftly defeated Li Qincheng and secured a spot in the top 16. Notable players such as Tan Xiao, Fan Tingyu, Gu Zihao, and Shi Yue were eliminated. In the second round, previous champions Ding Hao and Ke Jie faced off, resulting in Ke Jie’s reversal and victory over Zhao Chenyu. However, defending champion Ding Hao was defeated by Chen Yaoye, and Yu Zhiying failed to advance after losing to Xu Jiayang in the quarter-finals.

After a hiatus of nearly three months, the Chess Cup resumed with the semi-finals’ first round. Mi Yuting faced Jiang Weijie, with Mi Yuting struggling from the beginning and falling into a disadvantageous position. Ke Jie played against Wang Xinghao, and the game started with a switch in the lower right corner, where black gained the upper hand. However, the battle between the two players intensified, and despite black’s advantage, Wang Xinghao’s precise moves created a chaotic situation, leading to Ke Jie’s defeat.

The second round of Sanfanqi for the semi-finals of the 18th Advocate Chess Cup China Professional Go Championship will continue on July 14th at 10:00. Stay tuned for the Yike Weiqi’s follow-up reports.
