Queen Elizabeth spent a night in the hospital

London, October 21, 2021 – La Queen Elizabeth, 95, spent last night in the hospital. This was announced by Buckingham Palace, after having limited itself to announcing, the previous day, that the sovereign had given up on a visit in Northern Ireland on the recommendation of his doctors. The court added that the queen has meanwhile returned to Windsor Castle.

According to a spokeswoman for the royal palace, Her Majesty would be hospitalized for a few hours starting Wednesday afternoon. as a precaution, to be subjected to unspecified “preliminary (medical) investigations” after the court doctors had initially prescribed her a few days of rest. She was then discharged “and returned to Windsor Castle”, just outside London. “Following the medical advice to rest for a few days – reads the brief statement released by the spokesperson to the media – the Queen entered the hospital on Wednesday afternoon to undergo preliminary investigations”. She returned to Windsor Castle on Thursday at lunchtime “and remains in good spirits.” According to what was learned by the British agency Pa, the short hospitalization would have been decided for “practical reasons”, in order to allow the monarch to undergo the checks or tests deemed necessary, and Elizabeth II would have already resumed her place at her work table to dedicate herself to some “light” institutional commitment.

On October 12, for the first time, Queen Elizabeth II attended a major public event using a walking stick. The sovereign had taken part in a function in London in Westminster Abbey on the occasion of the centenary of the Royal British Legion. The previous one dates back to 2004. That year the sovereign had just returned from knee surgery.
