For the hammer comes the sixteenth tricolor title, right at the last launch. It will open a school to teach young people the specialty
Rovereto (Trento)
The sharp comes from the absolute Italian championships staged in Rovereto, but not only. Three Canavese athletes competing in the Rovereto facility, Marco Lingua, Sara Borello and Davide Favro.
Pearl of Lingua in the hammer and exploits of Borello in the hedges. Marco Lingua won his sixteenth career Italian title at the end of a thrill race. Rarity for the 43-year-old pitcher from Tonengo di Mazzè not having scored any zero on the six pitches available. We remember his six voids in the two participations in the Beijing Olympics in 2008 and in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.
After a mediocre start, with the first throws under the 70-meter barrier, the standard bearer of the company that bears his own name exceeded 70 meters for the first time, throwing the tool from 7.2 kg to 71.75. It was surpassed on the fifth launch reaching the remarkable measure of 73.46. Surprisingly, the Carabinieri pitcher Giorgio Olivieri found the wild card with a superb sixth throw at 74.22. But the twist was followed by the reaction of Lingua who at the last launch found a shot from 74.27 that gave him yet another tricolor jersey. Not enough to go to the Olympics (77.50 the minimum). Lingua plans to open a hammer-throwing school to pass on its over twenty-year passion to young people.
In a state of grace the Eporediese Sara Borello (Avis Atletica Canavesana) author of a spectacular race with a sixth final place on the eve of which cannot be foreseen. The middle distance runner has literally pulverized her personal best, improving by twenty seconds, breaking down the 10’30 ”barrier for the first time. Five hundred meters from the finish he saw third place not far away but in the final sprint he paid the effort. In 2020 in Modena Borello finished in twelfth place, fourth among the Promises. This year the physiotherapy student has approached the discipline in a different way. Day to forget for teammate Davide Favro in his first experience in the absolute in the long jump competition. A first null jump, a 7.10 and a 7.13 have relegated him to the bottom of the standings in seventeenth position. The dream for the U20 European Championships vanished after Santhià’s jumper had scored a promising 7.43 in past races. However, the Canavesana jumper has overcome the injury.
