Martinez jokes: “Da Rold wants to beat the tie break record”

It depends on the verdict of the match against Portomaggiore at the Spes Arena, or at most on the results of the other contenders. The free Gonzalo Martinez does not hold back, on the contrary. He has the desire to continue to line up points after points, perhaps without always taking it long until the fifth set.

“Well now we aim to break all the statistics on the number of fifth sets played, in fact (smiles, ed)”.

«Especially if you pick up a dispute that had gone badly and at a certain point risked getting out of hand. In reality, after the first set was removed, we still expressed ourselves on good levels, although we certainly did not offer our best volleyball. I am referring in particular to the third set, lost but which saw us paired at 15-15. Here, I take away in particular from the derby in San Donà having been able to never give up, despite the unfavorable score. Perhaps the fact of having extended so many challenges has allowed us to manage the delicate moments in the best possible way ».

It is a Da Rold Logistics but it needs to improve where?

«Both in the serving phase and in the reception phase. Especially the latter fundamental, because it is from there that our setter is allowed to develop an optimal and functional game. On these aspects we are partially lacking results in San Donà ».

The goal is to save himself, and in short, the team seems to have already been on the right track. But in your opinion, do you have a chance to aim even higher?

«At the moment we are satisfying the expectations of the company, that is to maintain the category by occupying an interesting position in the ranking. Of course, a bit of regret comes when thinking back to the points left on the road so far. With the awareness increased over the weeks, I believe in the second round we will take away some great satisfactions. But now we have to think about Portomaggiore and Prata, our opponent on Boxing Day. Beyond where we will be at the end of the championship, now I think it becomes precious to qualify for the Italian Cup. An event in which in the eventuality we will play it, regardless of the possible strong opponent along our way ».

You arrived in Belluno in the summer of 2019 from Volley Treviso, still 16 years old by the way. Would you have imagined him, two years later, to be the free holder in A3?

“No, but if they had told me I would have been really happy. I will always thank the company for the trust placed in me ever since. I was the youngest, actually I am even now. And being able to play in A3 is a source of satisfaction ».

Is there only volleyball among your daily commitments?

«No no, I am attending the first year of Economics and Commerce in Venice. It is not easy to reconcile everything, but I believe it is essential to accompany the sporting path to studies, looking at the future ».

We close with the appeal to the fans for Sunday?

«Of course, even if in reality many always come. We have made a few trips and I must say that it is not easy to find a passionate audience like that of Belluno ».
