Jesse Lingard: Ex-Man Utd & England midfielder considering offer from South Korean club FC Seoul

Lingard made 17 Premier League appearances for Nottingham Forest last season before departing in the summer

Former Manchester United and England midfielder Jesse Lingard is seriously considering an offer from South Korean club FC Seoul.

The 31-year-old has been without a club since leaving Nottingham Forest at the end of last season.

K-League side FC Seoul have offered Lingard a two-year deal and a substantial salary.

Earlier this season, Lingard trained with West Ham and also spent time training at Saudi side Al-Ettifaq.

According to an official familiar with the K-League transfer, Lingard will arrive in the country next Monday, undergo a medical test with the Seoul club, and then join the team that will leave for training in Kagoshima, Japan on 4 February.

“I heard about it two to three weeks ago and I thought it was unrealistic,” said Seoul FC head coach Kim Gi-dong.

“I asked our director of football about it and he replied to me yes it’s true we are in contact with the player but the deal is not confirmed yet.

“If he comes, of course, it would be great for K-league as more foreign fans would be interested in our league.

“And if he comes as he was not playing for a while, we need to give him time to adapt rather than expect an instant impact.”

Lingard started his professional career at Manchester United, spending 11 years at the club before leaving in 2022 to join Forest following their promotion to the Premier League.
