In their fourth game in eight days, the Club Pachuca, also known as the Tuzos, secured their spot in the Quarterfinals of the 2024 Clausura Tournament after defeating Rayos del Necaxa 2-1 at the Hidalgo Stadium.
The match was a tough battle as Necaxa entered with a defensive strategy, making it difficult for Pachuca to break through. However, in the final minutes of the game, the Tuzos managed to score two quick goals from Alan Bautista and Salomón Rondón, securing their victory.
Despite Necaxa’s efforts to hold off Pachuca, they were unable to maintain their defense towards the end of the game. Alan Bautista’s goal, assisted by Oussama Idrissi and Nelson Deossa, put Pachuca in the lead. Salomón Rondón later sealed the victory with a penalty kick in the 84th minute.
In stoppage time, Necaxa managed to score a goal through Bryan Garnica, but it was not enough to change the outcome of the match. With this win, Pachuca secured their spot in the Quarterfinals of the tournament.
Having lost in the Semifinals of the Concacaf Champions Cup earlier in the week, Pachuca will now face America in the Quarterfinals of the Clausura 2024 tournament. Despite dropping to eighth place in the overall standings, Pachuca will be looking to make a strong showing in the Fiesta Grande against the table-topping Águilas.
