PORDENONE. He says he has great esteem for Davide Vignati, Torino’s sporting director, with whom he also has an excellent relationship. Even the man-market grenade, like him, started from Lega Pro (with Giacomense ten years ago) to reach the top after a long journey. Matteo Lovisa is only 26 years old, but he will soon start his fifth transfer as manager of the technical area of ​​Pordenone football. Since 2017 he has been dealing with this aspect, supported by Emanuele Berrettoni in 2019 in the role of sporting director (who, in all probability, will not renew the expiring contract).

In his five years of work he had the merit of having found talents such as Pobega (who later arrived in the national team) and Di Gregorio (capable of hitting Serie A with Monza). Surely last season he made mistakes: he recognizes it, underlining that he will try to learn from them too. Pordenone who will restart from Serie C will do so by focusing on people, even before the technical qualities of the players. “We want motivated young people, who choose our cause with conviction – he said -. We did this also three years ago, when we went to Serie B. We need the right hunger ».

One of the players identified would be a return, that Salvatore Burrai who, from 2016 to 2020, contributed indelibly to write the history of lizards. The Sardinian director, born in 1987, has been playing for Perugia for two years, with whom he won promotion to Serie B as in neroverde (in 2021). For charisma, personality and attachment to colors he would be the ideal player to entrust the restart mission.

It would also be the driving force for others. Burrai is extremely attached to the city, so much so that it has also made some investments in the area. The director of the technical area, however, remarked that before making any move in, he will have to see what will move on the front of the out movements. “We have 21 players under contract – he said -. It will be necessary to understand which of these will remain and who will leave. There will be no purchases until the middle of June, also because at the beginning of the market many players aim high and remain in Serie B. Over time, however, their evaluations change ».

As if to say: the best deals are made by waiting, using patience and always paying attention to the opportunities that may come out. Also because if new investors arrive, the budget could change in July. “Certainly – he added – it will be a group with a very strong midfield, as it was when we won the championship”.

As for the coach, however, the choice fell on Domenico Di Carlo for a very specific reason. The intention was to hire a technician with a profile similar to that of Attilio Tesser, who arrived in Pordenone in the summer of 2018 and was already capable of hitting the leap to Serie B in the first championship. given carte blanche on some aspects (see the composition of the staff, ed) – explained Matteo Lovisa -. After the Vicenza experience, which ended with the exemption, he will certainly have a great spirit of revenge ».

Tesser himself also passed through Friuli after an adventure that ended early (in Cremona in B). He also chose the lizards to redeem himself. He always returns to the concept of before: hunger, motivations, the will to achieve new goals with lizards. A club like the Friulian one, which cannot boast the history of the highest level and the public of other teams, must necessarily leverage these aspects. Pordenone must be a stage from which to start again or from which to launch.
