The ducals close the quarter-final of the play-offs 3-0
Mission accomplished. The Ueb Gesteco Cividale beats Virtus Arechi Salerno with a score of 68 -78 and thus gains access to the playoff semifinal of Serie B. After a hard-fought match, the ducals have obtained the victory that is worth 3 -0 in the series and which allows the Eagles to continue dreaming of promotion to Serie A2.
Cividale appears at the start of the match with Rota, Chiera, Cassese, Battistini and Miani; coach Parrillo, on the other hand, ranks Tortù, Gallo, Maggio, Valentini and Cardillo. The eagle Battistini unlocks the result, but responds immediately for the hosts Cardillo. It continues on the question and answer until the bells begin to lengthen the distances: Maggio slips two consecutive triples that are worth 16 -12. But the ducals do not give up: the Rota-Cassese duo brings the Ueb back in a draw (17 -17). From here the situation is reversed and the eagles hold the reins of the period that ends on 17-22.
Excellent start for Pillastrini’s men, who, albeit with some difficult moments, proved to be in the game. The young Ohenhen opens the second period in the best possible way, but Salerno is not discouraged by hanging up with Mennella and Rossi the Cividalesi (24 -24). Hassan asserts his skills as a shooter, and he is joined by the expert captain Fattori who with two consecutive baskets gives the 32-38. Salerno tries to mend the tear before the long interval, but it goes to the locker room with Cividale ahead of seven lengths (35-42).
Upon returning to the field Caiazza tries to push on the accelerator finding an important triple: 38 -44. The Salerno players seem to have greater intensity and concentration in the start of the fourth. Battistini finds the first two points of the Ueb, but it is not enough to bring his team back on the right path: Salerno manages to shorten it up to -4 (47 -51). Pillastrini’s men lack shooting precision and the right defensive intensity and this weighs on the progress of the fourth: coach Parrillo’s boys with 2 minutes from the end return to -1 (53 – 54) and coach Pillastrini is forced to timeout for try to give a groom to his parents. Fattori receives the message and makes his teammates breathe by giving the closing of the fourth with a whole distance possession (53 -56).
To decide the fate of the match is the last portion of the game: Tortù, Caiazza and Mennella keep the hopes of the Campania region alive: 59-61. But the Eagles starting from the young Micalich (59 -64) get into the right gear and go back to +10 with a Chiera bomb. Any attempt to comeback by the hosts is useless and they are forced to surrender with a score of 68 -78. The 3-0 is worth the semifinal for Cividale.
