Under a more summer than spring sun, the thirty-second matchday is played at the “Liberati” in Terni between the local red-green team against the Emilian side Modena. If the unexpected heat today is a problem for myself, let alone for the ultras, in fact it is precisely the great heat that affects the two sets of fans, whose support is not always continuous, especially as regards the intensity of the chants. Furthermore, the hosts, as confirmed by the red-green Breda coach himself after the match, saw Ternana’s worst match, at the mercy of the offensive gusts of Modena who literally dominated the match. Returning to support, in the East you can see a patch of the Germans from Sankt Pauli, a friendship that has lasted for many years. Also worthy of note is the beautiful chorus of the Curva Nord, which lasted about ten minutes, to the tune of the famous song “Fragole” by Achille Lauro which effectively closed the first part of the race.
In the second half, the people of Modena, having removed the banner of the choreography, show off their various banners and thanks to the efforts of the choir throwers, they are the authors of a cheer that seems to be channeled in the right direction, assisted by discreet clapping while the flags continue to wave constantly in the lower part . Also in this second half they replicate the scarf along the lines of the first half, trying to be as colorful as possible.
Speaking of the hosts, undoubtedly the two corners put their soul into it but today it’s really hard to support an unrecognizable team, even if the support seems better than in the first part, with a consistently notable number of handclaps and the flags always held high. In the East, on more than one occasion, cheerful chants and others are raised to underline the friendship with Sankt Pauli. After more than eight minutes of injury time, the referee decreed the end of the hostilities with a couple of visiting players who went under their supporters’ sector to throw their shirts and shorts. On the opposite side, the red-green team will be kept in contact first in the North sector and then in the East sector, but the love for the red-green shirt remains unconditional and at the end of the dialogue, the players are encouraged to believe in salvation as they believe in it, always trying to give my best on the pitch, unlike what we saw in today’s performance.
With the final draw, both teams at least move the rankings, but their rivals were no different and if Modena continues to bask in its margin which has now become four points from the play out zone, Ternana in fourth last position sees just two points ahead of the Ascoli – Feralpisalò duo in the direct relegation zone. With six days to go, everything is still to be written and nothing is lost or compromised, but we need at least the same competitive anger as the ultras to stay afloat…
