Motagua and Olancho FC Battle to 2-2 Draw in Exciting Clausura Opener

Los Potros del Olancho FC were close to securing a win against Motagua at the National Chelato Uclés stadium, but the latter managed to avoid defeat in the second half, resulting in a thrilling 2-2 draw in the opening match of the Clausura tournament of the National League of Honduras.

Déxter Mónico scored the first goal for Olancho FC with a clever individual play, outmaneuvering Wesly Decas and then decisively finding the net just 10 minutes into the game. However, Motagua quickly responded with several shots on target, only to be thwarted by an inspired Harold Fonseca in Olancho’s goal.

An error from Motagua led to Olancho FC doubling their lead, as Fabricio Silva’s attempt to head the ball ended up baffling the Motagua defense and goalkeeper, resulting in a 2-0 scoreline. Fonseca further solidified his performance with two brilliant saves towards the end of the first half.

The second half saw Motagua making key substitutions, with the introduction of Rodrigo “Droopy” Gómez and Jorge Serrano bringing more offensive prowess. Walter el “Colocho” Martínez managed to narrow the gap with a goal in injury time, ultimately salvaging a point for Motagua.
