National soccer player Tabea Sellner has given birth to a son.
“Mother and child are doing well. The VfL family wishes you and your family all the best!” said VfL Wolfsburg on X on Thursday. The 27-year-old attacker’s contract with VfL runs until 2025.
Sellner, formerly Waßmuth, last played for Wolfsburg on matchday 22 of the 2022/2023 season against SC Freiburg (2-1). The 25-time national player finished second in the 2022 European Championships with the DFB team; Sellner did not make it into the squad for the World Cup.
The aim was to create the best possible conditions for Tabea to return to the pitch after the birth, said Ralf Kellermann, director of women’s football at the Wolves, in September after Sellner informed the club about her pregnancy.
