The Fujian team successfully defended their women’s team championship title at the 2024 National Fencing Championships sub-station competition. The competition, which took place at the Bajiaowan International Convention and Exhibition Center in Yantai, Shandong, saw Guangdong, Fujian, and Jiangsu teams emerge as champions in the men’s saber, women’s foil, and women’s epee team categories respectively.

In a thrilling final between the men’s saber teams from Jiangsu and Guangdong, the Guangdong team emerged victorious with a score of 45:41. Liang Jianhao played a crucial role in the victory, effectively limiting the performance of his national teammate Shen Chenpeng.

Meanwhile, the Fujian women’s foil team, led by Huang Qianqian, secured their third consecutive national championship title. Huang, who recently won individual and team gold at the Hangzhou Asian Games, displayed her dominance by scoring a perfect 5:0 in a single game against the Jiangsu team, ultimately helping her team secure a 45:37 victory.

The women’s epee team final saw the Jiangsu team defeat the Liaoning team with a final score of 37:28.

With more than 850 athletes from nearly 60 representative units participating in the competition, the event also featured youth group individual competitions, mixed team competitions, and adult group individual and team competitions. The final match, set to take place on the 10th, will feature the non-Olympic adult mixed team competition.

Overall, the 2024 National Fencing Championships sub-station competition showcased the talent and skill of fencers from across the country, with intense matches and impressive performances from the competing teams.
