New face on Monday at training at KVC Westerlo: Allahyar Sayyadmanesh. The 22-year-old Iranian winger is rented from the English second division club Hull City until the end of the season.
Sayyadmanesh’s transfer has been in the air for several days and is now official. The right-footed winger trained for the first time on Monday. The match against Cercle Brugge may still be too early, but Westerlo hopes to get Sayyadmanesh eligible to play for next weekend’s match against OHL.
Sayyadmanesh must give De Mil more offensive options on the flanks. “He has already shown some nice things in training,” the Kempen coach expressed satisfaction. “It is a profile that was still needed in this group. A sturdy boy, but also someone who can make a difference with his speed and action.”
Will there be any reinforcements after Vermant and Sayyadmanesh? “As a coach you always want more, but I have the feeling that the club has done maximum work to strengthen the group. During the winter mercato it is never easy to find a balance between what you want as a coach and what is possible.”
In principle, no more movement is expected on the outgoing side. Irsan Muric and Ilias El Hari are now taking a step back to the U21.
