Ocean Race, the Imoca 60 fleet grows with Meilhat

by admin

The 2022/23 Ocean Race is taking shape, despite many uncertainties. The “cut” to the course, the shift of the departure date characterized the launch phase. Now, the wait is for the teams: how many will there be? And how many Imoca60 and how many Vo65?

So far for the ocean racing class there are three participants, today the announcement of the third. Team Malizia of German skipper Boris Herrmann and 11th Hour Racing Team of American Charlie Enright are joined by Team Biotherm of French skipper Paul Meilhat, who can count on one of the most recent boats in the Imoca fleet, a project by Guillaume Verdier, with which the sailor – former winner of the Routhe du Rhum, of the Fastnet and champion of the Imoca Global Series 2021 – will race around the world. The new Biotherm should be launched in August to take part in the Route de Rhum in the autumn, then the Ocean Race on 15 January 2023 and then the Vendée Globe 2024. A good program.
