Third round at Roland Garros: the rising star of Italian tennis and the player very close to the French land will compete after the semifinal in 2018. Whoever wins will face Djokovic, should the Serbian overtake Berankis

Italy continues to shine at Roland Garros. Our tennis movement is showing its excellent health in the second slam of the season, on the earth of Paris. And after the match between Sinner and Mager in the second round, with the victory of the South Tyrolean in three sets, an all-colored match is also scheduled in the third round: Lorenzo Musetti against Marco Cecchinato, whoever wins arrives in the round of 16. And the prospect is to face Djokovic, should the number one overtake Berankis.

LORENZO

Musetti confirms himself as the rising star of Italian tennis together with Jannik Sinner. The player from Carrara, born in 2002, is at the first participation in the main draw of a Slam tournament and already has veteran results: no set lost in the first two games against Goffin and Nishioka. 2021 is the year of the explosion for Lorenzo, who after entering the great tennis in the final of last year is definitely making himself known to the world: semifinal in Acapulco and Lyon, in both cases the defeat came at the hands of Stefanos Tsitsipas.

MARCO

For Cecchinato, Roland Garros has a special flavor. By the tennis player’s own admission, the Paris tournament was the turning point in his career: in 2018 the exploit came up to the semifinal, lost in three sets against Dominik Thiem after also beating Djokovic in the quarter-finals. It wasn’t the devastating Novak it is now, but the feat was huge. Since then, Marco has gotten a bit lost. But in Parma he reached the final against Korda and in the first two rounds important victories, both in four sets, against Uchiyama and De Minaur, an opponent that is anything but simple. Cecchinato reached the third round in Paris last year too, losing to Zverev in three sets. Now the derby with Musetti: the two have never faced each other in their careers. The certainty is that there will be an Italian in the round of 16 and, surprisingly permitting, against Novak Djokovic. Roland Garros goes live, Italy shines in Paris.
