CAGLIARI. The day after the clashes between fans and police at the end of the Cagliari-Napoli match, with an arrest and three complaints among the Sconvolts, a dozen bruised fans and police forces, is that of the evaluations. Unanimous condemnation for the new act of violence by thugs disguised as fans, controversy over how the events unfolded and why the Neapolitan supporters away, were allowed to insult and provoke with an almost militaristic march through the streets of the center, the city of Cagliari.

180 people had arrived at Elmas airport in the middle of the morning and refused to board the buses provided by the prefecture. They took the train that connects the airport with the central station in Piazza Matteotti. However, they got off at the intermediate stop of Santa Gilla and headed towards via Roma and then towards the Unipol Domus, framed like a military platoon, monitored on sight by the police.

“We could not force them to get on the buses – then explained the prefect Tomao and the police commissioner Rossi -, we would have triggered a reaction of violence”. The march continued, always punctuated by chants against Cagliari and Cagliari, but without episodes of physical violence. All postponed to the end of the match, with the Sconvolts attempting to reach the guest sector from the outside. The guerrilla warfare broke out in the street between the police and the ultras, just as inside the stadium in the square below the tribune reserved for the guest supporters. Only around 10.30 pm the visiting fans were put on the coaches and escorted to the airport.

The next day, yesterday, the institutions responsible for public order came under fire. Municipal administrators, regional councilors and Sardinian parliamentarians made their voices heard: «We witnessed shameful scenes – they said -, the presence of a few dozen Neapolitan fans was badly managed. But they didn’t even have to go to Cagliari for safety reasons ».
