Riso Scotti Pavia in play off semifinal: it had never happened after the revolution of the championships.

Pavia climbed a mountain to eliminate Mestre with a 3 – 2 result of three consecutive victories after an initial 2 – 0 in favor of Gemini who seemed to have directed the series in favor of the Venetian team.

The news of the day, however, is that Riso Scotti (and, of course, Sanmaurense, in Serie C) will play and train regularly at PalaRavizza, where game 3 of Serie B is scheduled for Friday 3 June and the eventual game 4 on Sunday 5 June.

The president of Riso Scotti Emanuele Caserio yesterday morning went to the mayor of Pavia Fabrizio Fracassi and the councilor for sport Pietro Trivi to point out the great opportunity for the city to host a semi-final play off, a fact that had not happened for over twenty ‘years.

Late in the evening the councilor for sport announced the agreement with the organizers of the Italian Fitness Challenge event who had reserved the main city hall. «Thanks to the availability shown by the promoters of the event, we have found an agreement that provides that the event will be held at the Coni field, without prejudice to the activities already planned for athletics. While the PalaRavizza will be available to Omnia and Sanmaurense for both training and championship matches. The two gymnasiums – concludes the commissioner Trivi – will be used, instead, for the Italian Fitness event on days 3-4-5 June ».

Riso Scotti plans to return to the banks of the Ticino on the night of Tuesday 31 May and will have to prepare for the home match with a few days of intense training. San Miniato will arrive in the city on Thursday 2 evening and should work at PalaRavizza.

Meanwhile, the play-off quarter-finals have sparked enthusiasm in Pavia not only among basketball fans, but also among all sportsmen, so much so that the company has already been overwhelmed with requests for tickets to San Miniato and to find out if buses will be made to reach the Tuscan town. On the other hand, if a first signal was the bus to Mestre which sold out in a few hours, the victory at PalaVega rekindled that love towards the wedged ball that had never died and was smoldering under the ashes. The match in Pavia (in San Miniato) will be held on Sunday at 6 pm; while race 2 is scheduled for Tuesday evening – again at the Tuscans – at 20.30. Race 3 will instead be Friday 3 at 9 pm at PalaRavizza and is likely to become the sporting event of the year. The eventual race 4 will always be in our building, but on Sunday evening.

The growing season in Pavia, which ended with an historic fifth place, gave breath to the fans who in race3 and then in race4 resumed attending the PalaRavizza and loudly supported their favorites, an important factor in the playoffs. A curious note: Pavia could only meet Vigevano in the eventual final: they are in fact in two different groups. The lower part of the play off table 1 in Pavia is the challenge between Omegna and Cremona, with Juvi benefiting from the home factor. Vigevano, on the other hand, is in board 2, the lower part of which sees the challenge between Bergamo who eliminated Legnano with the former from Pavia Simoncelli mvp of the match and Cividale. —
