Our reporter Wang Pei

As soon as the bell rang, a group of students who loved playing football gathered on the football field of Licheng No. 2 Middle School in Jinan City, Shandong Province. They all had extraordinary skills in passing, passing, and shooting. They are members of the women’s football team of Licheng No. 2 Middle School.

In recent years, Licheng No. 2 Middle School has seized the opportunity of integrating sports and education and cooperated with the Shandong Provincial Football Sports Management Center to jointly build a Shandong Provincial Football Reserve Talent Training Base. After several years of training and experience, in July last year, the girls of Licheng No. 2 Middle School won the women’s championship of the 27th World Middle School Football Championship with seven wins from seven games. This was the first time in 16 years that our country won the title of World Middle School Football Championship. Football championship.

What’s the secret to the team’s good results? The team’s head coach Yao Bo believes: “Players must have solid sports skills, a strong will to ‘play until the last moment’, and the ability to think and react quickly.” Therefore, Yao Bo pays special attention to the behavior of his players. To cultivate habits, the team management is very strict: training and competitions, housekeeping, and study diligently, all without fail.

The new team captain Zhang Yingjie took out the course schedule, which was full of training and study arrangements. “Under the supervision of the coach, we are now more serious and attentive in cultural classes.”

Every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday morning, the team trains for one hour, regularly trains for two hours after school, and plays games on Saturdays. “Training is very hard, but also very fulfilling.” Zhang Yingjie said.

The coaching staff is extremely busy every day. In addition to organizing team members for training and games, they also have to constantly learn new technologies and research new tactics. When the team watches a high-level game, the coach will assign tasks to the players every time – what formation was used in this game? What are the pros and cons of each defensive offense? How should you play if you are a player? “Watching other people’s games more can improve players’ understanding of techniques, tactics and games, thereby improving their decision-making ability on the court.” Yao Bo said.

In recent years, the Licheng No. 2 Middle School women’s football team has formed a “management-activity-competition” training model. The Shandong Provincial Sports Bureau and the Provincial Football Management Center provided the team with some training equipment, nutritional materials, and opportunities to participate in high-level competitions to help the team grow rapidly.

In the finals of the women’s U17 (under 17) category of the first China Youth Football League National Finals held in 2022, the Licheng No. 2 Middle School women’s football team defeated the Hangzhou U17 women’s football team and won the national championship trophy for the first time. Won many championships in various domestic competitions.

The training model and talent training experience of Licheng No. 2 Middle School Women’s Football Team have also promoted the development of local campus football to a certain extent. Li Xinsheng, director of the Licheng District Education and Sports Bureau, introduced that Licheng District has established the first district- and county-level campus football office in Shandong Province to coordinate teachers, venues, students, and competitions, and build an integrated training model of “preschool, elementary, junior high, and high school” to establish The three-level league system of “class, school and district” builds a football growth echelon.
