If in the women’s category an overtaking on the very strong Axelle Mollaret – Emily Harrop seems unlikely at the very least (15′ behind), in the men’s the final result is still to be written. Of note in this third stage was the bad fall of the Piedmontese Matteo Eydallin which forced him to withdraw. Currently competing for the final podium, the very strong athlete from Sauze d’Oulx escaped with a few bruises, but still had to raise the white flag. For the final two days of the Tour de France of Ski Mountaineering, young people will also be competing, with several Italian pairs in evidence.
THE TAPPA DEL GRAN MOUNT:
after years of weather and snow conditions preventing passage over the mountain that is the symbol of this legendary race, this morning the 210 teams of the 38th Pierra Menta faced the mountaineering ridge that took them to the 2686m summit cross. As anticipated in recent days, the head-to-head between the home champions William Bon Mardion – Xavier Gachet and our Robert Antonioli – Davide Magnini will only end tomorrow with the final stage. Even today the two teams studied and followed each other, leaving the field open for the stage success of Mathéo Jacquemoud – Jakob Herrmann.
At the finish line, second place for the boys from Arêches and third place for the two Italians who now have a total disadvantage of 27″. There will be a challenge between these two very strong teams until the end. Mathéo Jacquemoud – Jakob Herrmann, Maximilien Drion – Nadir Maguet and Aurelien Dunand Pallaz – Simon Bellabouvier follow in the rankings.
In the women’s category, the home champions continued their triumphant ride, increasing their lead over our girls to 15’12”. Third in the rankings are the locals Célia Perillat Pessey – Lorna Bonnel. Followed in fourth and fifth place are the sisters Léna and Candice Bonnel and the Italians Martina Valmassoi – Corinna Ghirardi.
YOUTH RACE:
success under 20 by Edoardo Mottini – Simone Compagnoni and Maria Butxaca – Anna Pedranzini. If Lorenzo Milesi – Umberto Ferrazza, Olga Corti – Annalisa Pitscheider won the under 18 race, among the under 16s the first to reach the finish line were Kaire Antonin – Eliot Joyeux and Coline Verney – Laura Berthod.
